Grand Cayman: Sunsets, Catamarans and Kayaking on Seven Mile Beach's Island
A week on Grand Cayman: turquoise water along the ironshore, sunsets from the pier near George Town, a catamaran sail, kayaking, and lazy beach days under the palms.

In early December 2025 we spent a week on Grand Cayman. It was warm, slow and very blue: sunsets from the pier, a catamaran sail, kayaking, and beach days under the palms.

- How long
- 1 week
- Who came
- Colin and me
- Best for
- An easy, relaxing Caribbean week
Sunsets and the ironshore
Grand Cayman’s coastline mixes white-sand beaches with rocky ironshore, and the water along it is incredibly clear. Every evening we found a spot for the sunset: a small pier, a beach, a frozen drink in hand.

Catamaran sailing and kayaking
The best day was out on the water on a catamaran under a big white sail, with turquoise water everywhere. We also went kayaking in life vests along the coast.

Grand Cayman tips
- Book a catamaran day. Many tours stop at Stingray City and the sandbar.
- December is lovely. It’s warm and dry, before the holiday rush.
- Rent a car if you want to explore beyond Seven Mile Beach. They drive on the left.
